I fell in love with Rosemary Clooney when I saw this movie as a kid. It's one of my Christmas must see movies for that and because of the ending. My Dad is a WWII vet and the scene where they honor the Major General (Dean Jagger) gets me all choked up! BTW, VistaVision was a process conceived in the 1950's to get a wider screen image by flipping the 35mm film sideways. As an added benefit, because of the larger image, it heightened detail making the technique useful for special effects all the way up to the early Star Wars movies, "The Dark Night" and "Inception." (So says Wikipedia...) Thanks for posting those amazing pictures!
